Italian at UW-Milwaukee

Courses in Italian Studies at UWM include language classes at all levels as well as courses in culture and civilization, film, and literature (taught both in Italian and in English.) In addition to language courses, the following are offered on a regular basis:

  • Italian Culture and Civilization (2 semesters)
  • Italian Cinema
  • Major Italian Writers
  • Fascism and Resistance
  • Italian Women's Studies
  • Dante's Divine Comedy
  • Italian American Culture
  • Italian for Travelers

The major in Italian offers two options.

In addition to the traditional major in language and literature, there is also a major in Italian Studies which enables students to take not only courses in Italian language and culture, but also related courses in fields such as history and art history.

A minor in Italian is also offered.
