Fellowships and Grants

At UWM, Graduate School Fellowships are awarded each year to select new and continuing graduate students. A limited number of Advanced Opportunity Program Fellowships are also awarded annually to qualified students who are members of groups underrepresented in graduate study. Students of certain literatures and languages may also apply for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships. More information on these fellowships as well as graduate fellowships offered from other sources outside of UWM is available on the Graduate School's fellowship page.

MAFLL offers a limited number of non-resident tuition remission waivers (NRTRs) to assist students who are not Wisconsin residents with the out-of-state portion of their registration fees. You may request to be considered for an NRTR once you have been accepted to the MAFLL program. More information is available on MAFLL's financial aid page.

The Comparative Literature program also offers a select number of stipends through the Chancellor's Graduate Student Awards program to exceptional international and out-of-state students. Applicants who apply by January 15 will automatically be considered for these awards.
