TESOL Certificate Program Teaching Internship

The teaching internship tops off the training of certificate program students, supplementing their coursework in various ways:

It gives students first-hand experience in applying the teaching approaches, techniques, and strategies they have encountered during their coursework.
It helps students solidify knowledge of the technical aspects of language teaching.
It helps students to define or refine their own philosophy of language teaching and learning.

The internship is completed at one of the internship institutions affiliated with the Certificate Program, under the supervision of an experienced ESL teacher. The site of the internship is chosen by the student in consultation with the Certificate Program staff. During the internship, the student will have the opportunity to complete between 40 and 60 hours of supervised teaching over a period of four to eight weeks.

A number of approved internship sites are available in Milwaukee and elsewhere.
