English 350-192-010 Freshman Seminar: Images of American Indians in Art, Film and Literature Instr:
Michael Wilson
Course Information:
TR 11:05am-12:20pm CRT 368
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will enable students to view and discuss several films about American Indian peoples. We will consider how images of American Indians have changed and how they have stayed the same in the eyes of non-Indian filmmakers. We also will look at the films made by American Indians themselves, showing how these self-representations present the traditions and histories of specific Native Nations. Film viewings include Green Grass, Running River, Thunderheart, Dances With Wolves, and Last of the Mohicans.
