Course Description Women's words have long influenced the course of history. Relive Sojourner Truth's battle for the right to vote, Eleanor Roosevelt's quest for civil liberties, Sally Ride's talk about her career as an astronaut, or Meg Whitman's speeches as the CEO of e-bay. "Women Speakers" is a course designed to acquaint you with a selection of American famous female speakers and their rhetorical styles. Throughout the course, we will watch, hear, and study women speakers from a variety of backgrounds from the mid-1800s till today: civil rights activists, politicians, first ladies, philosophers, businesswomen, and pioneers. The goal of the course is to help you to get an insight into some of history's most influential women speakers and their art of rhetoric.
