Course Description

This course will approach literature from a variety of perspectives in order to emphasize how poetry, fiction, and drama create meaning. We will study critical techniques and terminology that are used in the analysis of literature and then use these terms to do a personal analysis of various works of literature. Students will engage in discussion and analysis of how literary texts convey themes, attitudes, emotions, and ideas. An emphasis should be kept on learning how to write critically about texts.  The class will involve discussion and presentation and hopefully show students how to look at literature in new and interesting ways.
