English 350-815-001 Seminar in Fiction Writing: Weaving Lore Into Narrative Instr:

Wednesdays 4:30-7:10 CRT 468
Course Description During this course you will explore techniques to incorporate various
types of lore (cultural lore, occupational lore, library and field research,
etc.) into your narratives. We also will examine ways contemporary writers
employ these techniques in their work. You will intensively critique one
another’s short stories in terms of structure, technique, craftsmanship,
and meaning. This course requires you to write two new pieces of short
fiction (total of forty pages). In addition, you must complete all readings
and provide a written critique of all stories workshopped in this class.
