The writing internship for English Majors provides you with the opportunity to:
Internship placements have been arranged with a variety of Milwaukee-area organizations and businesses in the following fields: publishing, public relations and advertising, corporate communications departments of companies, not-for-profit agencies, and technical writing firms. As a writing intern, you may be called upon to do a variety of tasks, including writing, editing, proofreading, and researching. To apply for this course, fill out an application form, available at www.uwm.edu/Dept/English/bustech/internship/.
The application asks you for a summary of your school and work experience, references, and a sample of your writing. A faculty committee will screen applicants for their competency in English grammar, punctuation, and usage, as well as for their ability to conduct themselves appropriately in the workplace. The application also directs you to the Reserve Room, where there is a notebook listing the current placements plus reports (XWIFEM) and work samples from previous interns in three large boxes under "Washburne" (IFAF, IFGM, IFNZ).
