This course will explore the use of myth by George Lucas in the Star Wars Saga. Students will engage with the films through required out of class screenings and by close readings of the scripts themselves. Students will also read texts by Joseph Campbell and many others (One Campbell text is required and a course packet of other essays will be available). Students will enter into an academic, critical discussion with themselves, the films and the critical texts.
