Course Description

Incorporating traditional methodologies and technology, this course focuses on works by contemporary African and African American filmmakers and writers. Examples of topics to be considered include: alternative constructs of history (departures from a linear progressive construct of history); the use of community-based narratives; oppositional cinema; the representation of alternative worldviews; the text as political.
