Course Description

This course will explore mythic spaces represented in selected African and African American texts. Of special interest will be the Mande epic tradition (West Africa) and selected African American films and novels. Attention is also given to historical, cultural, and socio-political contexts. This course integrates traditional methodologies and technology to explore the subject. English 517 is cross-listed with the Department of Africology.
