Course Description
In this course, you will become familiar with and practice three genres of creative writing-the poem, the short story, and the play. We will read works by published writers in terms of craft and technique. You will try a variety of writing exercises; some of these will turn into longer pieces, others will be valuable practice. You will workshop your pieces with others in the class, and you'll benefit from their fresh perspectives and honest insights into your work. In turn, you'll offer your opinions on their work. By the end of the course, you will have practiced writing poems, stories, and plays, and will have produced a body of accomplished, carefully drafted work.
