Course Description
This course surveys the major Eastern European films and filmmakers from 1960 to the present. We will examine a variety of Polish, Czech, Hungarian, and Yugoslav films, with an eye toward detailing their historical, aesthetic, and stylistic significance. We will also pay particular attention to how the films reflect the history of Eastern Europe from World War II, the rise and fall of communism, to the onset of capitalism.
