Course Description
This course will examine the complexities of the Graphic Novel as it evolves from the comic book super hero to the typed word as the "graphic". We will discuss the connection of film and the censorship of the comic book. Topics range from the Holocaust to 9/11; from Batman to Manga; from political commentary to insanity. A selection of books will be: House of Leaves, Midnight Nation, Maus 1: A Survivor's Story, The Ring, Kingdom Come, and others.
