Course Description
We will look at a variety of prose and poetry by Blake, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats, and Shelley, to gain insight into a turbulent period of political and social change. These are the outstanding figures of their age, and probably the most influential poets in the British tradition from that time forward. For this reason understanding these five writers goes a long way toward understanding a very important element within the development of modern English literature. The texts will be available as computer files in order to facilitate some new ways of investigating these materials.
