Course Description

In addition to exploring images of black women in contemporary African American novels and films, this course will analyze linkages between black women and mythic memory. Other issues to be considered include: the symbols associated with women of African descent; the representations of African and African American culture, history, and activism; the text as political. This course integrates technology and traditional methodologies to explore the subject.
