Course Description

Starting with the Matrix trilogy, this section of English 248 will explore concerns of the city as reflected in contemporary literature and film. Topics to be analyzed include: the text as cautionary tale; the representation of technology; reforming the "the system;" utopia and dystopia. Selected short stories, novels, and films will be critically studied. This course incorporates technology and traditional methodologies to explore the subject.
