Course Description
An introduction to the elements of lyric poetry (figurative language, meter, rhyme, etc.) and the major verse forms (sonnet, ode, ballad, etc.) and modes (elegy, pastoral, satire, etc.). Regular attendance and active participation expected. More than three unexcused absences will result in automatic failure. Weekly quizzes and homework assignments; class presentations; four 5-6pp papers; no exams.
