The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee strives to maintain a healthy and hazard-free setting for its faculty, staff and students. Toward attainment of this goal, the Chancellor has directed the Department of University Safety & Assurances to:

• Manage the health and safety components of the University's academic research compliance program, and
• Ensure that campus-wide health and safety Programs meet standards established by federal, state and local agencies.

In carrying out its charge, the department seeks to promote a positive, campus-wide attitude of safety excellence which responds sensitively to our obligation to the communities we serve and at the same time to promote and support the important teaching, research and learning mission of our faculty, staff and students.
