September 10, 2007: Beginning October 1, 2007, students (graduate or undergraduate) may no longer be listed as the Principal Investigator (PI) on new studies. Only UWM faculty or academic staff may be listed as the PI. Students may be listed as “Co-Investigators.” This change is applicable to New Study submissions only and does not apply to studies with current IRB approval.

September 10, 2007: New forms posted for New Study, Continuing Review and Amendment submissions. New and additional (short version, online surveys, letters, etc.) consent from templates are available. Submissions using the previous forms will no longer be accepted after October 1, 2007.

July 11, 2007: Question & Answer sessions are open and will start Wednesday, August 8th from 3:30pm-5:30pm. General and specific questions are welcome (e.g., you need help preparing for an IRB submission). To adequately staff the Q&A sessions, please RSVP at 229-3182.

August 23, 2007: The IRB has a part-time position open for a graduate student as an IRB Program Project Assistant. If you are interested, please visit PantherJobs for job details and application instructions. The username is your UWM ePantherID (first part of your email before @uwm.edu) plus underscore uwm (e.g. jsmith_uwm). The password is your birth date in the following format (yyyy-mm-dd). (e.g. Password: 1987-07-22).

June 13, 2007: Addition of Decentral Reviewers for School of Continuing Education and Department of History.

May 7, 2007: On April 27, the IRB conducted a presentation to faculty and graduate students focusing on the various changes (e.g., website, forms, process, etc) that have taken place and how they impact IRB submissions. Click here to access the extended presentation (PowerPoint required).

April 25, 2007: The Getting Started page has been updated to clarify that studies being reviewed under Exempt and Expedited status may be submitted at any time and researchers should expect approximately 2 weeks to complete the review. Studies being reviewed under Full Board status must follow the deadlines for submission based on when the IRB meeting dates occur.

April 25, 2007: The IRB would like to welcome Melissa Spadanuda as the new IRB Administrator.

April 25, 2007: UWM IRB Guidelines and Procedures posted.

November 14, 2006: Related Links page updated, Decentral Reviewers list updated, New Study Submission Form updated.

October 18, 2006: All IRB submissions after November 8th will require the use of the newest forms and templates.

October 12, 2006: The IRB is actively seeking people to serve on the IRB Board as voting members. The IRB is open to all, including UWM faculty and staff, and individuals not affiliated with UWM. If you are interested or would like to finding out more, please contact Benjamin Kennedy (229-3182).

September 25 , 2006: New website design and content. IRB submissions after October 1, 2006 should use the newest forms.
