EPA List of P Code Waste
Chemicals on EPA's P Code Hazardous Waste list are regulated as Acute Hazardous Waste. The amount of these wastes produced annually can effect our regulatory status and trigger additional requirements to be met. Disposal of containers of P Code waste must follow additional requirements for rinsing and disposal of rinsate.
Conditionally exempt and small quantity generators may not produce more than 2.2 pounds (1 kilogram) per year total of all chemicals on this list. The Main Campus usually exceeds the annual limit and is classified as a large quantity generator (also because of the total waste produced). The Kenilworth Building is a large quantity generator due to total amount of waste produced. The Great Lakes Water Institute may produce over 2.2 pounds of P listed waste only on rare occasion. Otherwise, the GLWI is usually classified as a small quantity generator.
Consult the current CFR Title 40 Part 261.33 for the official, most up-to-date listing.
P Wastes previously collected on campus are highlighted.
