Fire Safety: Training Presentation by Milwaukee Fire Department
The Department of University Safety and Assurances offers annual hands-on fire extinguisher training to UWM employees. Over 1200 faculty, staff and students from various departments and divisions across campus have participated in this training. The fire extinguisher training program was initially conducted by the Milwaukee Fire Department Training Academy. The Department of University Safety and Assurances has developed a training program based on the Academy's program and geared specifically to the campus. Training includes a lecture, video and hands-on training.
Here are some questions developed by the Milwaukee Fire Department Training Academy to test your fire safety awareness. You may check your responses by accessing the "Answer" link:
- What number do you call from your workstation for fire, medical or other emergencies?
- Where is the nearest fire extinguisher? When was it last inspected?
- How will you be alerted to leave the building?
- In an emergency, which exit would be your second choice?
- How will you be able to find the exit in the event of a power failure?
- When you have to evacuate the building, where will you go?
- What do you need to do during a tornado warning?
- What should you do if you are stranded in an elevator?
- What are the two answers that the 911 operator will need most?
