Steps for Proper Disinfection

MSDS
  1. For animal care purposes, disinfectants should be used that are specifically formulated for controlling infectious agents commonly found in those settings.
  2. All disinfectants contain hazardous ingredients; therefore, you must review the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the product before you use it and follow the manufacturer's recommendations for safe use.
  3. Clean surface of visible organic debris using detergent and water and following the principles outlined under the cleaning section.
  4. Apply the disinfectant to the contaminated surfaces and allow the surfaces to remain wet with the product for the manufacturer's prescribed contact time.
  5. After the contact time, remove residual disinfectant and store treated items.
