Frank E. X. Dance Scholarship
The Frank E. X. Dance scholarship fund was established to provide support and recognition for students who excel in the study of Communication at UWM. The award is designated for Communication majors who have future plans for pursuing a career in teaching at the K-12, college, or corporate (training) level. This scholarship is awarded annually during the Spring term of the academic year.
To apply, a student must:
- be an undergraduate student enrolled in the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukeee
- be majoring in Communication
- have completed a minimum of 70 college credits
- have completed a minimum of 20 credits in Communication
Selection criteria for this scholarship are based upon:
- overall grade point average in all coursework
- GPA in the Communication major
- quality of written composition and expression on an original essay
- the applicant's potential for academic benefit that would result from receiving the scholarship
To apply, a student must submit five copies of each of the following documents by March 15th.
- a completed application form (Download: Word, PDF 15k)
- a current copy of the student's UWM transcript
- verified records of any financial assistance or previous scholarships awarded on the basis of financial need
- a written statement (250 word maximum) summarizing the applicant's motivation and future plans for pursuing a career in teaching at the K-12, college, or corporate (training) level.
Complete packets should be received by March 15th.
