REGISTER NOW: for the Program Administration & Development Committee (PA&D) Pre-Conference

If you are an administrator or director of a women's/gender studies program or are interested in leadership issues in women's studies programs and departments, the NWSA Program Administration & Development (PA&D) Committee Pre-Conference on Thursday, June 17th in Milwaukee (the day *before* the regular conference) is for you!

You must register for the PA&D pre-conference in addition to the regular NWSA conference. The registration fee for the pre-conference is $55, and is separate from the regular NWSA conference registration fee. Continental breakfast, lunch, and coffee/snacks are included in the price.

This year's pre-conference will address topics such as: labor practices in women's studies, introduction to the new NWSA database, serving high-needs students, distance learning, (re)connecting with alums, assessing student learning, collaborating with the sciences, mentoring women's studies colleagues for promotion and tenure, recruiting students, collaborating with women's centers, and internships in women's service agencies to name a few. This is in addition to our recurring pre-conference topics: orientation to NWSA, teaching the introductory course, mentoring new program directors, rap session for women of color leadership project participants, and orientation to PA&D. Spontaneous lunch time table topics will be back as well! Contact me (Catherine Orr) if you have an idea for a topic.

The Program Administration and Development Committee is a standing NWSA committee specifically designed to represent the interests and needs of administrators of women's studies programs and departments to the governing council of NWSA and to assist NWSA in meeting the needs of women's studies administrators and their departments and programs. Our on-going projects include the Women of Color Leadership Project (co-sponsored with the Women of Color Caucus), the Program Administrator's Handbook, the mentoring project, the women's studies database project, the curriculum transformation project (co-sponsored with the Women of Color Caucus and the Anti-White Supremacy Task Force), and program evaluation project.

Sign up now, as space is very limited in our Milwaukee venue. Go to www.nwsa.org or contact Catherine Orr (orrc@beloit.edu) for more details.

See you in June!
