Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice student and her advisorThe field of Criminal Justice is rapidly expanding and provides a wide variety of career paths within three major sub-systems:

1) Law Enforcement -- responsible for enforcing the law;
2) Courts -- implementing the judicial process;
3) Corrections -- providing treatment, rehabilitation, and sanctions for offenders.

Tthese areasand a number of related areas require practitioners who are educated, experienced and aware. Those who have an education with a strong liberal arts base will find themselves well prepared to take advantage of the array of career opportunities available to them.

Our Master's degree in Criminal Justice is designed to educate students for leadership positions in the field, and to deliver a broad foundation for the understanding of criminal justice policy. Students are introduced to advanced knowledge on the nature and causes of crime, the justification and means of social control, the administration of the Justice system and the evaluation of Criminal Justice Programs.
