    This site was developed for an online course in Mandarin Chinese. The course covers idiomatic conversational Chinese, reading, writing and cultural studies. The emphasis is on listening and speaking skills. Though Chinese is a very challenging course for Westerners, it has the distinct advantage of having no conjugations, verb tenses or declensions. Mandarin is the official language of the People's Republic of China and of Taiwan.
