The 1999 Global
Studies Summer Institute Program Schedule is now available
online.
The 1999 GSSI, entitled "In the Shadow of the First World: Teaching about International Development Issues," will examine issues such as population growth, human rights, and the environment as they relate to life in areas of the developing world including Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Highlights for this summer's GSSI include live videoconferences with South Africa and a representative from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), lectures by prominent experts in the field of international development, and time to discuss and reflect on contemporary international issues with your colleagues.
The 1999 Global Studies Summer Institute will be held Monday, August 2 through Thursday, August 5, 1999 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Hefter Conference Center. We recently receive additional funding that has allowed us to offer more scholarships for this summer's program. Scholarships worth $250 are available for the first 25 applicants.
