2008-2009
WISCONSIN TEACHING FELLOWS
The UW System Office of Academic and Student Services and the Office of Professional and Instructional Development (OPID) are pleased to announce the Wisconsin Teaching Fellows Program for 2008-2009. OPID's Wisconsin Teaching Fellows and Scholars programs were awarded the prestigious 2005 TIAA-CREF Theodore M. Hesburgh Certificate of Excellence, receiving recognition for their system-wide approach and impact; the diversity of disciplines and institutions represented; and for their development of communities of teacher-scholars within and across institutions.
The Wisconsin Teaching Fellows Program is designed for fifteen early career, untenured faculty and teaching academic staff, one from each UW System institution, who show exceptional promise as college teachers. Nominees must have at least two years and no more than six years of full-time teaching experience at the college level, with at least one year at their current institution. They must be interested in studying teaching and learning issues in depth, in examining career and classroom-related issues of particular concern to teachers new to the profession, and in using the principles of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) to structure their work. Each Fellow in the program undertakes a scholarly teaching project aimed at understanding “best practices” that enhance student learning. At the end of their fellowship year, Teaching Fellows are expected to disseminate the results of their project in a publication, conference presentation, campus workshop, or via other appropriate forums.
Wisconsin Teaching Fellows Program Requirements:
Attendance at four OPID-sponsored events throughout the year:
-Faculty College, May 27-30, 2008, UW-Richland
