SGI Origin 3800

The SGI Origin 3800 at UWM is maintained by Dr. P. Roebber of the Atmospheric Science Group, and is used for real time weather prediction modeling and Lake Michigan circulation modeling.    The goal is to couple these models together, to do a complete real time circulation modeling of the atmospheric and Lake, with mutual feedback.

It contains 32 400 MHZ processors, 16 GB shared RAM, 48 GB Hard Drive.  It has one rack free for expansion (up to 32 more processors).   In addition, each processor has 4 MB Cache as secondary memory.  It has all major compiling, performance-analysis, and debugging tools for developing high performance algorithms and carrying out scientific simulations.
