Summer 2008 Application Process
(The online application requires that cookies be enabled in your web browser. When you click the link, you should get a prompt asking you to accept a certificate. Click the button to accept (not examine) the certificate until you see a page titled “New Program Application”.)
- $250 Deposit (refundable if not accepted to the program)- check or money order payable to "UWM"
- Transcripts- follow the instuctions here to print your unofficial transcripts from PAWS
- Academic Recommendation- This may come from a Professor or Instructor, someone that knows you and is qualified to comment on your academic achievements in your major area
of study. The recommendation form is available by clicking here. Those writing on your behalf may also use a separate sheet (on department letterhead) to address the questions and write
the recommendation.
Deposits, trancripts and recommendations should be turned in to the OPP office, Pearse Hall 166 by March 14 , 2008.

Please note the following special application procedures:
- Students applying for CIEE-Seville must use CIEE's application materials, along with OPP's online application and academic advisor conference sheet.
- Study Abroad Advising- All students must schedule an appointment to meet with a study abroad advisor before applying to a semester or year-long pro
gram abroad.

• 3.0 Recommended GPA on all exchange programs
• 2.5 Recommended GPA on all study abroad programs
• Must be in good disciplinary standing
- Student Statement- On the document attached here, please TYPE a one to two paragraph response to each of the questions provided.
- Recommendations- Most programs require two letters of recommendation for participation. These may come from Professors, Instructors, Teaching Assistants, or Academic Advisors. At l
east one recommendation should come rom someone qualified to comment on your academic achievements in your major area of study. Students on programs with a foreign language requirement must submit at least one recommendation from a university instructor
or a high school teacher currently teaching the language. Recommendation forms are available here. Those writing on your behalf may also use a separate sheet (on letterhead) to address the que
stions and write the recommendation.
- Language Requirements and Evaluation form- Four college semesters or the equivalent and an evaluation form (available here) are ne
cessary for the following programs: Giessen, Hessen, Viadrina, Seijo, ITESM, Colima, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Brazil, Paris IC, Paris III, Paris IX, MICEFA, Sciences Politiques, ESA, Montréal, Chile, China, Korea, Senegal, Spain. Two college se
mesters or the equivalent (NO LANGUAGE EVALUATION FORM) necessary for the following programs: Egypt, Nanzan, Paris ACI, Paris IC, Sweden, Thailand. Please schedule your own interview with a language Professor on your campus.
- Academic Advisor Conference- Please schedule a meeting with your academic advisor to discuss the program and how it will fit into your timetable for graduation (use the sheet available here). For non-UWM students, this is optional. You are strongly encouraged, however, to meet with your own campus advisor to discuss the program.
- Other Requirements- All students accepted to a UWM program will be required to obtain and maintain an email address for use in the months b
efore the program begins. In addition, the University of Wisconsin System oard of Regents mandated Health Insurance would be required before departure. It is the responsibility of the participant to cover the cost of the mandated health insurance. Art Ma
jors may need to supply a slide portfolio of their work with the application.
All pieces (besides online application) should be turned in to the OPP office,
