Description
Viadrina European University Frankfurt is located in the town of Frankfurt am Oder (pop 75,000) on the border of Germany and Poland, a region especially marked by the political, economic and cultural changes of recent years. Viadrina is a young and modern university with an enrollment of about 4,600 students. This international campus, linked by agreements to 150 Universities worldwide, is compact yet full of life thanks to the interdisciplinary and cultural activities led by students. 30% of Viadrina’s students are from Germany, 30% come from Poland and 40 % of students come from the rest of Europe and other nations. The Viadrina European University is organized into three schools - the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Economics and Management Studies, and the Faculty of Cultural Studies. Furthermore, the University has a Modern L anguage Centre, a multimedia Self-Access Study Centre and three research institutes. Computing facilities and a well-equipped modern library are available to all students. Study areas include Law, Business, Communications, Cultural Studies, Polish, Russian and Czech. Courses are taught in German, Polish and English.

Dates
Students may attend the University of Viadrina for fall semester, spring semester or an academic year. Fall semester runs mid October until mid February (or January with negotiations), spring semester runs mid February until late June and an academic year runs mid October until late June.
Eligibility
This is an undergraduate or graduate exchange program. Applicants must be enrolled as degree seeking students at UWM. All participants must have at least sophomore status, have four semesters of college level German (or the equivalent) and carry a GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale). In addition to written application materials a language evaluation and letters of reference, an Overseas Programs faculty committee may interview applicants.

Cost
UWM students pay UWM tuition, $450 administrative fee and $37/month for health insurance. Housing and other fees are paid directly to Viadrina. Cost information can be found in the

Students can choose to live in university accommodations on the right or the left bank of the river Oder (i.e. in Germany or Poland).
