University of Sunderland Exchange Sunderland, England
Established in 1992 as a new university, the University of Sunderland is a dynamic, modern institution with a growing reputation for teaching quality and leading The staff from Sunderland’s Centre for International Education offers a multitude of services for short-term exchange students such as: free pick up from the local airport/railway station; a designated study abroad advisor; an on-site orientation program in the fall semester; organized trips and social events; and access to a local health advisor at no extra charge. The city of Sunderland, located about 300 miles north of London near the Scottish border, and is a coastal town of 300,000 people. It lies in the North East of England, a region known for its unspoiled scenery and historic castles. Sunderland is also a lively region for arts and entertainment. The University of Sunderland originated as a technical college in the late l9th Century. In 1969 it was established as one of Britain's first three Polytechnics and in 1991 attained university status. Today it has 15,000 students, including a diverse international student population representing over 70 countries. Students may choose to participate in the Sunderland exchange for fall semester, spring semester, or academic year. The estimated time frames are as follows:
Applicants must be enrolled as a degree seeking student sat the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. All participants must have at least sophomore status and carry a 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale). In addition to written application materials and letters of reference, an Overseas Programs faculty committee may interview applicants. The University of Sunderland offers a wide variety of courses in many different disciplines.
