Description

Turkey has a unique position at the crossroad of East and West, as part of Asia and part of Europe. Due to its rich history, students have the opportunity to experience both modernity and traditions under one roof, in one of the safest and most stable countries in the region. The Middle East Technical University is located in central Turkey, in the city of Ankara.
The University is dedicated to reaching, producing, applying and promoting knowledge, and to educating individuals. Even though many Middle Eastern languages can be studied at the university, courses are taught in English. METU offers 41 undergraduate programs within 5 faculties. Course of study include: education, architecture, arts & science, engineering, economics, political science, business and international relations. For a complete listing of class offerings, please see the METU website.
Over 20,000 students attend METU, up to 1,200 of which are international students. Over 5% of the faculty is formed by visiting staff from abroad. Most members of METU’s full-time faculty have obtained their doctorate degrees while studying abroad themselves.
METU offers many cultural activities. Students can enjoy art exhibitions, concerts, recitals, cinema and theater events as well as a variety of social and academic activities. The Cultural and Convention Center hosts many of these events and many more. One of the most favored social activities is the traditional International Spring Festival held in May.
There is also a wide variety of sports facilities, including gymnasiums, tennis courts, basketball and football fields, jogging trails, and Olympic-size indoor swimming pools.
