Programs-Summer 2007

 

Summer in Lublin, Poland

July 7 - August 13, 2007

Application deadline: March 15, 2007 with $250 deposit

Overview:

Lublin is one of the oldest towns in Poland, dating back to the 10th century.  Today it is a vibrant university town that maintains its old world charm.  Students may attend from 2 to 5 weeks and earn between 2 and 5 credits of Polish language taught at all skill levels in the School of Polish Language and Culture at the Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski (KUL-Catholic University of Lublin).  They may earn additional credit by choosing intensive or highly intensive language courses or earn 6 credits in 3 weeks by taking Polish culture (3 credits) and Polish language (3 credits) courses.  Excursions to Warsaw and Kazimierz, films, cultural performances, and lectures given by the faculty at the KUL, where Pope John Paul II was a professor, complement this program.

 

Credits:

2-5 undergraduate Polish language credits (Polish 290, 297, or 497);

Graduate students may earn 3 credits (MAFLL 797).

Participation:

This program is open to all college/university students.

***Students from participating CIC/AESOP (Alliances for Expanded Study in Overseas Programs) institutions pay Wisconsin resident fees for this program.

Estimated Cost*: $2,393*

Program fee includes:

-Lodging and meals in Poland

-Group travel in Poland

-Lectures and language classes

-5 UWM credits for 5 weeks

-Health insurance

*FEE DOES NOT INCLUDE AIRFARE

 

Optional trips to Cracow and

Bialowieza National Park

*Program fees are based on a realistic estimate of participants.  The cost may change if the exchange rate fluctuates or the minimum number of participants is not achieved.

**There are fee differentials for graduate students and non-Wisconsin residents.

***Financial Aid, Scholarships, and Grants can be used for this program.
