Programs-Summer 2007 Morocco: Education & Culture July 2 - 31 , 2007* (*Dates listed are program dates in-country. Please allow for appropriate travel time.) Application deadline: March 15, 2007 with $250 deposit Application Instructions:
Online Application: -For all degree-related fields, use your most recent degree. If you exact degree or major is not listed, choose the closest option available. For the “academic advisor” and “academic recommendation” fields, please enter Thomas Maguire, email: maguire@uwm.edu. For the orientation field, choose “self-orientation.” -Please submit transcripts of most recent or current degree program. For UWM students, an unofficial transcript will suffice. For all others, please send an official transcript. -No letter of recommendation is required. However, the supplemental application requires you to LIST two references. -The $250 deposit is waived for all full-time educators. Supplemental Application: -Available here. Program Overview: UWM is offering this intensive Arabic language and area studies seminar for K-12 teachers. Participants may earn 6 credits for the program, 3 credits in Arabic Language (at all proficiency levels) and 3 credits in Arabic Culture and Civilization. The group will travel to Rabat, Fez and Marrakesh and live with Moroccan families during this month-long program. The seminar seeks to provide an intensive and extended collaborative, professional development experience aimed at fostering cultural exchange and understanding of the Arab world. Through their experience and acquired teaching materials, teachers will be able to share their knowledge with colleagues and students.
Credits: 3 Credits in Arabic Language and 3 credits in Arabic Culture (Undergraduate and Graduate credits) Participation: Open to all US college/university students. Preference given to UWM students and K-12 teachers. Estimated Cost*: $4,900* * Program fees are based on a realistic estimate of participants. The cost may change if the exchange rate fluctuates or the minimum number of participants is not achieved. This cost includes airfare, housing, transportation and most meals. **There are fee differentials for graduate students and non-Wisconsin residents.***Financial Aid, Scholarships, and Grants can be used for this program.
