Description

Paris offers limitless cultural and historic resources. Its buildings and monuments represent more than 2,000 years of history. Its museums, theatres and libraries are among the finest in the world. In a metropolitan area of ten million inhabitants, there is a wide variety of ethnic groups and lifestyles. Paris is located in the north of France, conveniently near other areas of interest such as Normandy, Brittany, the Loire Valley, and the Champagne region. The MICEFA exchange is ideal for independent students with a near fluency level in French.  Students on this exchange are able to attend any of the 13 Paris universities and direct-enroll into courses offered by the various schools.


MICEFA Exchange Schools are:

Paris 3 – Sorbonne Nouvelle Censier;

Paris 4 – Sorbonne;

Paris 5 – Réné Descartes;

Paris 6 – Pierre et Marie Curie;

Paris 7 – Denis Diderot;

Paris 8 – Vincennes-Saint Denis;

Paris 9 – Dauphine;

Paris 10 – Nanterre; 

Paris 11 – Sud;

Paris 12 – Val de Marne;

Paris 13 – Nord; INALCO;

Institut Catholique de Paris and

Evry Val d’Essonne


 

Each school specializes in a general area of study.  Students seeking a large variety of courses may enroll at more than one school.  For more information about each school, please consult the MICEFA website at www.micefa.org.

 

Dates

Students may participate in the MICEFA Exchange during fall semester, spring semester, and for an academic year.  Fall semester runs September to late December, spring semester runs January to late June and an academic year runs September until late June.  Please note that dates may vary depending on the campus.

Eligibility

This is an undergraduate or graduate exchange program.  Applicants must be enrolled as degree seeking students at UWM.  Preference will be given to applicants with a 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale) and at least 4 semesters of college level French or the equivalent.  Applicants may be called in for a personal interview.

Courses

Students may take any of the courses offered on each campus.  The subject areas of strength for this program are:  Humanitites, Social Sciences, Business Administration, French Language/Culture, Education and possible Internships.  Please visit MICEFA's website for additional information on course listings:  www.micefa.org

Cost

UWM students pay UWM tuition, $450 administrative fee and $37/month for health insurance.

Housing

Apartments, student resident halls, and homestays are available to students.  The MICEFA office can assist students in making housing arrangements but final arrangements are the responsibility of the student.
