One of the oldest universities in Egypt and the region, Cairo University has been, across its long history a leading outpost of education and cultural awakening in the country. The campus, located in Giza, covers a large area on both sides of the Nile River. The University serves about 155,000 and has successfully been undertaking its mission of delivering education, research facilities to Arab and foreign students, and scientists.  The city of Cairo, being one of the largest cities in the world, provides great culture with art galleries, museums and ancient temples.  While studying in Cairo you can enhance your educational experience by visiting the Egyptian Museum, Pyramids of Giza, Citadel, Khan El Khalili Bazzar and many more famous sites. This program is an excellent opportunity for students interested in: Mass Communications, Radio and TV, Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising. For students prepared for a full-immersion program, Cairo University offers beginning, intermediate and advanced Arabic language classes at its outstanding Arabic Language Institute.

Dates

Students may attedn Cairo University for fall semester, spring semester or an academic year.  Fall semester runs September to December, spring semester runs January to May and an academic year runs September to May.

Eligibility

This is an undergraduate exchange program only.  Applicants must be enrolled as degree seeking students at UWM.  Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale), at least 2 semesters of college level Arabic, and may be called in for a personal interview.

 

Courses

Students may take any of the courses Cairo Univeristy offers.  The subject areas of strength are:  Engineering (civil, electronic, computer, biomedical, architectural, and mechanical), Business Administration, Accounting, Infomration Technology, Nursing, African Studies, and Natural Sciences.

 

Cost

UWM students pay UWM tuition, $450 administrative fee and $37/month for health insurance.

Housing

Students may live in university residence halls.
