The University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee is offering a Moroccan education and culture program for K-12 teachers through a Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Grant. The bulk of costs for participants will be covered, pending funding.* Participants may earn 6 credits for the program, 3 credits in Arabic Language (at all proficiency levels) and 3 graduate credits in Moroccan Education and Culture. The program runs July 2- 31, 2007. Please note: The dates listed are program start dates in-country. Please allow for appropriate travel time. Following an orientation in Milwaukee, the group will travel to Rabat, Fez and Marrakesh and live with Moroccan families during this month-long program. The seminar seeks to provide an intensive and extended collaborative, professional development experience aimed at fostering cultural exchange and understanding of the Arab world. Through their experience and acquired teaching materials, teachers will be able to share their knowledge with colleagues and students. A tentative itinerary is available here.
The due date for applications is March 15. The final decision on funding is expected in April. If the grant is not awarded, the program may still run. However, applicants will have the option to withdraw.
