Visa Status

The staff of International Student and Scholar Services greatly appreciate the many contributions you bring to our campus.  You are highly competent students with diverse backgrounds and we would like to support you while your pursue your academic goals at UWM. 

In order for you to succeed academically there are a few things that you need to understand about your visa status so that you may focus on what is really important - your studies. If you understand what your documents mean and how they are important, how to maintain your status, and how we report information to the U.S. government via SEVIS  you will have the information you need to stay in the U.S. during your studies without worrying about your visa status. 

If you have questions about your status please do not hesitate to ask an international advisor during a walk-in advising time or an individual appointment.  Our job is to help you understand everything you need to know about your status so that you may focus on your studies.
