Get Involved

CIE relies heavily on the active participation of faculty. This page provides information on the many service activities that UW-Milwaukee faculty.

Advisory Committees

Both formal and ad hoc advisory committees provide guidance which assists the Center for International Education in developing and administering academic, overseas, outreach, and international student and scholar programs.

Global Studies Colloquia

CIE hosts regular talks by UWM faculty and visiting scholars on issues pertaining to globalization.

Global Studies Planning

CIE organizes regular, open meetings to help develop and plan the Global Studies degree program curriculum. Participants in these meetings receive preference for course development funding opportunities. Global Studies and International Studies Teaching

CIE welcomes faculty interested in teaching internationally-focused courses. CIE seeks faculty to teach courses for both the inter-departmental Global Studies and International Studies programs, but will also cross-list departmental courses and advertise appropriate courses to students.

Overseas Programs

CIE works closely with faculty in developing and implementing overseas study, research, and exchange agreements.

Scholarly Conferences

CIE sponsors scholarly conferences which highlight UWM faculty members' research and foster connections with international scholars and practitioners.

Publications

Patrice Petro edits the New Directions in International Studies book series with Rutgers University Press, through which many CIE conferences have experienced an afterlife.  CIE also publishes occasional papers on international topics and invites submissions from UWM faculty or visiting scholars.
