CIE Staff

The CIE Academic Programs Team:

Supports UWM's campus internationalization through international education activities and academic programs;

Works to educate students by opening their eyes to the world and providing a foundation for them to become “global citizens”;

Facilitates international research, recruitment of faculty with international expertise, expansion of international teaching, and attempts to create a faculty community with a focus on international concerns; and

Benefits the wider community by expanding access to ideas through conferences, public lectures, and other outreach activities.

Some of the Academic Programs team's responsibilities and activities include:

  • Global Studies Bachelors Degree Program

  • International Studies Major

  • Certificate Programs - Middle Eastern and North African Studies, Asian Studies, Russian and Eastern European Studies, Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution

  • CIE Annual Conferences

  • Publications - Global Currents, CIE book series

  • Co-sponsorships, e.g. film series, speakers, other campus events

  • Grant awards for faculty course development and travel

  • Grantwriting support for UWM faculty international research
