Academic Programs

The Center for International Education supports an array of internationally-focused academic opportunities for UWM students and faculty. Programs reflect UWM faculty expertise and important global themes. Examples of these include: environmental sustainability, economic development, international public health, immigration, human rights, and information technology and security.

The following links outline the primary academic programs and resources administered by CIE.

  • International Studies Program - International Studies offers a major and minor program for students more interested in the liberal arts. Majors choose one of two options: (A) International Politics and U.S. Foreign Relations, or (B) International Economics and Development.
  • Certificate Programs - CIE offers a variety of globally focused certificates that complement a variety of majors. These include: Peace Studies; Asian Studies; Middle Eastern and North African Studies; and Russian and East European Studies.
  • Conferences - CIE sponsors annual major scholarly conferences and regular mini-conferences promoting cutting-edge research on global issues and often result in publications.
