Faculty Involvement in CIE
CIE relies heavily on the active participation of faculty. This page provides information and resources of particular interest to members of the UW-Milwaukee faculty.
If you would like more information about how you can become involved, please contact Patrice Petro, CIE Senior Director, at ppetro@uwm.edu or 414-229-3757.
Advisory Committees
Both formal and ad hoc advisory committees provide guidance which assists CIE in developing and administering academic, overseas, outreach, and international student and scholar programs.
Global Studies Colloquia
CIE hosts regular talks by UWM faculty on issues pertaining to globalization.
Global Studies Planning
CIE organizes regular, open meetings to plan the Global Studies curriculum. Participants in these meetings receive preference for course development funding.
Please visit the following websites to learn more about CIE efforts to work with faculty to innovate and strengthen international education at UWM:
Global Studies and International Studies Teaching
CIE welcomes faculty interested in teaching internationally-focused courses. CIE seeks faculty to teach courses for the inter-departmental Global Studies and International Studies programs, but will also cross-list departmental courses and advertise appropriate courses to students.
Overseas Programs
CIE works closely with faculty in developing and implementing overseas study, research, and exchange agreements.
Scholarly Conferences
CIE sponsors scholarly conferences which highlight UWM faculty members' research and foster connections with international scholars and practitioners.
Publications
Patrice Petro edits the New Directions in International Studies book series with Rutgers University Press, through which many CIE conferences have experienced an afterlife. CIE also publishes occasional papers on international topics and invites submissions from UWM faculty or visiting scholars.
Funding Support
CIE sponsors a number of grant opportunities for faculty to support the development of international education at UWM. Visit our Funding Support web site for more information.
