RESEARCHING CAREERS AND MAJORS

Once you have developed a profile of what you are looking for in a career or major, you are ready for the initial research process. This initial research is to determine if careers, career clusters, and/or majors you are considering fit your needs closely enough to warrant further in-depth research.

The following research techniques and strategies will help you to investigate careers and match college majors to occupations. It is recommended that you utilize more than one of these research techniques in this initial research process.

  • Read online and print resources.

  • Talk with individuals knowledgeable about the career/major and career planning.

  • Experience the career/major through hands-on activities.
