Workshop Description
A one-day workshop is planned at the Holiday Inn, Peoria, IL on September
16, 1997. The purpose of the workshop is to bring attendees up-to-date
with the latest information on utilization of fly ash and other coal combustion
by-products in concrete and other civil engineering applications. The program
will include presentations showing important technical and economic
advantages of using coal ash in ordinary, everyday construction applications,
including ready mixed concrete, precast concrete, flowable slurry for backfilling
excavations, highway construction, etc. The workshop should be of interest
to those associated with the construction industry, including design and
materials engineers, architects, engineering technicians, engineers working
in governmental agencies, industry and private practice, engineering faculty
and students, as well as ready mixed concrete producers, concrete products
manufacturers, and concrete contractors. The workshop will also provide
significant help to people from utilities and other industries producing
coal ash.
The program will cover basic information, applicatio case histories,
as well as the latest developments in the utilization of coal ash from
power plants in concrete, flowable slurry, and other construction materials.
State-of-the-art information will be presented by knowledgeble professionals
engaged in specifying, approving, marketing, and using these materials.
The workshop includes a site visit for demonstration of use of fly ash
in concrete for sidewalk construction in the City of Peoria, IL.
