ASSISTANTSHIPS
Research Assistantships (RA). In the Department of Biological Sciences, an RA is provided through an individual faculty member's grant. An RA appointment includes a stipend, remission of the non-resident portion of the tuition and eligibility for health benefits. Students interested in working with particular faculty can contact them directly to inquire about the availability of RA support. Project Assistantships (PA). A project assistant is appointed to conduct research, training, or administrative responsibilities or non-instructional academic support projects. A PA appointment is usually provided through an individual faculty member's grant and can be used to supplement other forms of support.
Research Awards. Modest awards are available for specific areas of research within Biological Sciences. Travel Awards. Students may apply for awards to help pay for expenses involved in attending professional meetings. These awards are intended for students who present their research results at scientific meetings.
Awards to graduating seniors majoring in Biological Sciences or Environmental Studies based on overall scholarship and/or an independent study project are also given. The number of awards and amounts vary.
