Application to Biology Graduate Studies

Minimum entrance requirements include an undergraduate major in one of the biological sciences or in a related field and some course work in the area of specialization. To prepare for graduate work in biology, a student should have a general background in biology or a related science, including laboratory work. Undergraduate course work in chemistry, mathematics and physical sciences is desirable. Official undergraduate transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and official results of the Graduate Record Examinations are required for all applicants. A completed application includes the following items:

    * A signed application form
    * Official transcripts from all undergraduate (and graduate if applicable) institutions attended.
    * Official results of the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE)
    * Three letters of recommendation.
    * A personal statement.

Please note that the process of scoring the GRE exams and mailing out results frequently takes several weeks. It can also take several weeks for Official transcripts and letters of recommendation to be mailed. Students should begin the application process early to ensure that completed applications are received by the January 1 deadline. Applications received after the deadline cannot be guaranteed of financial support.
