Ying Wang teaches the arts of Asia, including Chinese, Indian, and Japanese art. Her research interests are gender issues and the bronze culture of China during the Bronze Age. She has edited books and museum catalogues on bronzes and jades. She is also interested in painting and her book, Identification and Connoisseurship in Ancient Chinese Painting, focuses on the history and problems of identification and collection of Chinese ink painting. She studied Buddhist art and worked at various Buddhist caves in China. She works on 20th century Chinese art as well. Her recent research is rank and gender in the carved bone artifacts at Anyang, the royal center of the Shang dynasty (15th-11th century BCE.).

Duties: on the board of the editorial group of Wenwu Press and participated in all committee meetings at Beijing, Changsha of Hunan, and Shanghai, to design the format of the volumes, to select regions of collections, to choose authors to write introductions, as well as to design on the numbers and types of artifacts to be selected for each volume. Worked independently at Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Hunan, Jiangxi, and other provinces to organize authors, worked jointly with museum curators and staffs to choose artifacts, visited the archaeological sites, directed photographers, and edited entry data written by a great number of authors.
