"Sacrifice of Isaac" is a small copy of a larger window by Johann Minten found at Zion Episcopal Church in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. The tradition of sacred stained glass is evident in this window with the portrayal of a scene filled with symbolism, rich in color and detail. It illustrates the artist's mastery of detailed 'drawing' on the glass by the process of scratching away metallic oxide. The symbolism and imagery relate to the story of Isaac. The censer in the foreground is actually an instrument used in the the church to burn incense and oils; however, here the artist chose to incorporate it as a means of explaining how Abraham 'brought fire' up to the mountain.
